In this episode, Justin and Joe discuss…
- Justin and Joe start with the renewal of the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry beginning in 2024. For Justin, it’s a Thanksgiving Day tradition with the Longhorns and Aggies, and he’s the most excited these two teams will face each other on the gridiron again. Joe explains how the other sports (basketball, baseball) had great matchups and he’s also excited to see the game return.
- Justin and Joe talk about which game their looking forward to the most in 2024. For Justin, it’s hosting Georgia and the return of Bevo vs UGA. Joe almost mentioned Michigan, but also agreed the Texas-Georgia matchup as No. 1. The Bulldogs fanbase really travels and that’ll be key to the experience in 2024.
- Justin and Joe ask “is that 2024 schedule the best Texas has put together?” It’s a difficult question after years of Texas playing strong non-conference foes over the years.
- Justin and Joe shift to On3’s No. 3 wide receiver Micah Hudson making an unofficial to Austin on Thursday. To get him on campus 24 hours before his official visit to Texas Tech is large for Steve Sarkisian and Chris Jackson. It was a short, early trip, but the Horns are pulling out all the stops in this pursuit.
- Should Texas keep scheduling big non-conference opponents when they begin SEC play in 2024? Justin wants the big schools, love playing Michigan and Ohio State over the next few years. The SEC might not be a big fan of that approach, with the conference schedule usually being enough competition.
- What SEC program does Justin and Joe want to see the most? For Justin, it’s LSU in Baton Rouge with no close second. The Tigers still owe Texas a game after 2019’s contest and COVID stripping the rematch in 2020. Joe mentions covering Texas-LSU baseball in Baton Rouge and how the experience is different than most programs. Joe can’t argue with Baton Rouge. His second choice was at the Swamp in Gainesville, Fla.
