Plenty of young men were on campus on Saturday and received offers for scholarships for the Class of 2024, which Burton called “one of the biggest recruiting weekends we’ve seen really since the Sarkisian took over.”

Hamilton said the turnout was even more impressive because Texas was going against competing Junior Days at LSU and Texas A&M.

“It spoke to kind of Texas’ momentum coming off an 8-5 season, its improvement on the field, (the signing of) Arch Manning and the back-to-back Top 5 classes,” Hamilton said. “I mean, there’s a lot of positives right now around the program.”

There were plenty of out-of-state players in for Junior Day, including from as far away as New Jersey and California. Players from Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida were also on the 40 Acres on Saturday.

“It’s the kind of representation you want for your Junior Day,” Hamilton opined.  “They are trying to get in early on these kids and be able to recruit through the whistle and stay in the race all the way until the end. Those are the states you want to be in when you move into the SEC.”

“If there’s one thing we’ve found out from those guys that were at Junior Day it’s that Texas is looking for players with big frames,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton broke the news on Saturday that Texas has offered Jonathan Davis, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound defensive lineman with raw talent for the Class of 2023, which will have its “regular” signing day on Feb. 1. He played in the Mississippi high school all-star game this year after growing an inch and putting on 50 pounds in his senior year.

“I don’t think it’s a surprise after that that Texas knows about Davis,” Hamilton said. “I believe [Texas defensive line coach] Bo Davis is scheduled to be out in Lawrence County High this week. And if things go well I expect an official visit next weekend, the weekend before signing day “

Texas is also pursuing Arizona tight end Duce Robinson to be part of the Class of 2023. Robinson has offers on the table from Georgia, USC and Oregon, among others.

There’s plenty more to see and hear from Burton and Hamilton in today’s video, including specifics about the Junior Day visitors, so go watch and enjoy.
