On Texas Football: Players to WATCH on National Signing Day
On this edition of On Texas Football, Trey Elling and Justin Wells look at a handful of recruitments 24 hours until National Signing Day. From DeAndre Moore, to Tausili Akana, to others, UT is looking to finish the early signing period on a high note.

In this episode, Joe and Justin discuss:
- Trey and Justin start with Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco wide receiver DeAndre Moore. The On3 four-star and Louisville commit is trending Texas in a big way. The dynamic pass-catcher was committed to OU last year, but when Lincoln Riley took his brisket to Southern Cal, Moore reopened his recruitment. He visited UT three times since the summer and was on campus last weekend.
- Trey and Justin talk about North Crowley (Texas) tight end Ka’Morreun Pimpton. The Vanderbilt commit recently took his official visit to Austin and left with rave reviews. Texas has two tight ends in the Class of 2023, but Pimpton has too much upside to deny. Another strong senior evaluation from the UT staff. They discuss how Spencer Shannon might be the most college-ready in 2023.
- Trey and Justin discuss the Tausili Akana recruitment. Texas is still pushing for the On3 four-star from Lehi (Utah) Skyridge has a sister on the UT volleyball team and the Horns have stayed consistent throughout the recruiting process.
- Trey and Justin look at targets Tyler Scott and Jelani McDonald as we get closer to NSD. Scott and McDonald recently took their official visits to Austin, both leaving with a greater sense of what Texas could offer the pair at the next level. Scott has Auburn and Tennessee on his heels and it’ll be interesting to see which direction the Georgia native goes. With McDonald, you probably won’t hear much as he’s slated to sign on Wednesday with his future program, but won’t announce until January 7th at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
