On Texas Football: Previewing UT's Junior Day in Austin
On this edition of On Texas Football, Justin Wells and Trey Elling preview a jam-packed Junior Day in Austin on Saturday, January 21st. They look at the top targets on offense and defense, and what to expect this weekend in the ATX.

In this episode, Trey and Justin discuss:
- Trey and Justin open in a great mood after the Dallas Cowboys, 31-14, wild card playoff win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was the first playoff win on the road for the Cowboys since 1996. It sets up for a 1990s style divisional playoff game at San Francisco next Sunday. Texas-Exes Charles Omenihu and Malik Jefferson are currently rostered for the 49ers and Cowboys, respectively.
- Trey and Justin jump right into Texas’ Junior Day roster with a focus on offense and defense. The Horns are notorious for their junior day events over the years, back when Mack Brown started a trend that all college programs follow these days.
- Trey and Justin start on offense, with Texas commit Trey Owens, No. 1 running back Jerrick Gibson, No. 1 wide receiver Micah Hudson, and some of the top offensive linemen in the country including Michael Uini, Blake Frazier, and Ory Williams. After nabbing a handful of the top talent in the nation with Arch Manning, Cedric Baxter, and Johntay Cook.
- Trey and Justin shift to the defensive side of the ball with On3 four-star Zina Umeozulu, Alex January, Corian Gipson, Charleston Collins, Dylan Williams, and Payton Pierce. More potential prospects in Ka’Davion Dotson-Walker, Braylon Conley, and UT commits Jaden Allen and Hunter Moddon. The Longhorns do a fantastic job during junior days and this is the foundation for whatr they’re building in the 2024 class.
