On3 ranks the Texas O-line as the No. 2 unit in the nation
After On3 national football columnist Jesse Simonton ranked the Texas Longhorns skill position groups among some of the nation’s best, he couldn’t leave out the Texas O-line. Simonton labeled members of Kyle Flood’s position group as the No. 2 unit of offensive trench players in college football behind only the LSU Tigers.

Here’s what Simonton had to say about Texas’ O-line, which returns four of five starters.
Longhorns left tackle Kelvin Banks is in contention with Will Campbell for the best OT in college football this fall. Along with Banks, Texas brings back three other starters up front including former 5-star DJ Campbell and fifth-year senior center Jake Majors. Majors has 41 career starts and is one of the more consistent centers in the country.
Position coach Kyle Flood as done an excellent job building depth in his OL room, as former blue-chip signee Cameron Williams, who was originally committed to Oregon, is set to take over at right tackle.
Texas was ranked ahead of…
3. Georgia
4. Alabama
5. Oklahoma State
6. Oregon
7. Missouri
8. Miami
9. Tennessee
10. Ole Miss
In addition to the three aforementioned returning starters, Williams, and incumbent left guard Hayden Conner, Texas has promising interior lineman Neto Umeozulu and the experienced Cole Hutson available ahead of their first season in the SEC. Behind banks at left tackle is Trevor Goosby, who has drawn a lot of strong reviews during his time at Texas.

Simonton is now through with his rankings on the offensive side of the ball. He described the Longhorn quarterback room as the best in the nation. That’s up from the No. 3 spot last year.
Texas’ wide receivers were listed as the No. 3 unit in the country behind only Ohio State and Oregon. The Longhorn tight ends were not ranked in the top 10 but were described as being part of the “best of the rest” category. Tashard Choice‘s running backs were ranked as the No. 7 position group in the country.
