Opponents for Texas' first season in the SEC revealed

In an SEC Network special on Wednesday night, the Texas Longhorns learned the opponents and locations on the schedule for their first year in the SEC in 2024. Texas will travel to Texas A&M to renew the Lone Star Showdown, welcome Georgia to Austin for the first time since 1958, and host Florida for the first time since 1939.

Texas will host UGA, UF, the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Kentucky Wildcats in 2024. The Horns will travel to Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt. The Red River Showdown remains on the schedule and the contest between the Longhorns and the Sooners will be in Dallas.

In addition to previously announced matchups with Michigan, Colorado State, and UTSA, the Longhorns added a contest versus Louisiana-Monroe to fill out the schedule.

Texas will play Colorado State on August 31, 2024, play at Michigan in Ann Arbor on September 7, 2024, welcome ULM to Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium on September 14, 2024, and finish non-conference play with the UTSA Roadrunners on September 21, 2024.

Texas has faced Florida three times, with two wins and a tie. Texas is 4-1 versus Georgia with the Longhorns taking the last matchup versus UGA in the 2019 Sugar Bowl. In the lone matchup versus Kentucky, Texas won 7-6 in 1951 in Austin over Bear Bryant’s Wildcats.

Texas is 2-2 all time versus Mississippi State, with Texas winning the last contest in 1999.

The Longhorns are 56-23 versus Arkansas, but lost the last matchup in Fayetteville, Ark. in 2021. Texas leads the Lone Star Showdown series with Texas A&M by a comfortable 76-5-37 margin. UT is 3-8-1 versus Vanderbilt, but the two teams haven’t played since 1928.

The Longhorns are members of the Big 12 for the 2023 campaign, then will join the SEC on July 1, 2024.
