Back in July, IT deployed the first ever IT Poll. The mission of the IT Poll is to rank the top 10 team in the Southeastern Conference, and several week one results caused there to be movement in the post-week one edition of the poll.

1 Georgia (-)

It took a little while but Carson Beck and the Bulldogs got things rolling against a Clemson team that might bring Clemsoning back again. Just wait until Trevor Etienne is back, too.

2 Texas (-)

Complete performance across all three phases by the Longhorns after an early Quinn Ewers interception. Arch Manning… that guy looked good too!

3 Alabama (-)

Poor TJ Finley was 18-for-31 for 92 yards and two picks in what was his third loss to Alabama for a third program. Jalen Milroe accounted for 279 yards and five touchdowns. Bama’s still Bama.

4 Ole Miss (-)

Jaxson Dart’s 22-for-27 day for 418 yards and five touchdowns plus another score on the ground was enough to help the Rebels rack up 76 points on the poor Paladins.

5 Missouri (-)

Twenty-eight first quarter points for the Tigers started one of the five SEC shutouts in week one.

6 Tennessee (-)

Nico Iamaleava! The Vol offense has another top quarterback at the helm after a gap year last season. A good day for the Volunteer State’s Power Four programs.

The above six schools did not move in the rankings.

7 Oklahoma (+2)

Oklahoma moves up more because of movement around them than their own performance, which still was a good one against a moribund Temple team. 1-for-12 on third down is a bit concerning, but they did go 3-for-3 on fourth down. Not a whole lot shown by the Sooners, but the LSU and Texas A&M losses helped them move up.

8 Kentucky (+2)

Kentucky moved up without even playing a full game! The Wildcats are not very different stylistically than the Longhorns and Bush Hamdan had a great debut as the UK offensive coordinator. Mark Stoops’ defense also got a solid game from star transfer Jamon Dumas-Johnson, who picked off a pass.

9 LSU (-2)

The loss to the USC Trojans was disappointing and it made Brian Kelly very, very, angry. Enough to pound on the table. However, the win revealed as much about the quality of USC on both sides of the ball to where LSU keeping it close with a bona fide playoff contender isn’t an indicator that things are dire for the Tigers

10 Auburn (New)

Seventy-three points wasn’t the highest point total in the league — that honor went to Ole Miss — but the receivers on the Plains may turn Payton Thorne into a decent quarterback. A lot of this, like with Oklahoma, has to do with other SEC teams not putting together strong performances. South Carolina almost lost to Old Dominion! But Auburn put points on the board in a way they rarely did last year.

Dropped out: Texas A&M – previously No. 8

Notre Dame may have one of the best secondaries in the nation, but they shouldn’t be forcing Conner Weigman to go 12-for-30 for 100 yards and two interceptions.
