Texas (5-1) will take on Texas State (3-4) in a first meeting between the two programs since 2020. Texas sports a 45-5 record all time against Texas State. The Longhorns have won 27 straight in the series.
The Longhorns are coming off an 86-63 win over Wyoming Sunday. Texas State is coming off of a 73-66 win at Ut-Arlington Saturday.
Rodney Terry and staff return three full time starters, and five players all told from last season’s Elite Eight team. The Longhorns will have returning starters Tyrese Hunter and Dillon Mitchell in the starting lineup tonight, while senior power forward Dylan Disu continues to rehab a foot injury after surgery.
The Longhorns also welcome seven new scholarship players to the program, led by scoring machine Max Abmas, sharp shooter Ithiel Horton and center Kadin Shedrick.
This year’s Texas team has plenty of big game and NCAA Tournament experience. Terry’s squad has five players that have been a part of an Elite Eight team, six players that have appeared in a Sweet 16 game, and seven players that have played in the NCAA Tournament.
