Quarterback, running back, and the combination of wide receiver and tight end all made the cut, while the Longhorn offensive line was not included as one of the best blocking units in the nation.
QB – Honorable mention
Max Chadwick didn’t place a quarterback room that includes Arch Manning in his top ten, listing LSU, SMU, Arizona State, Florida, and Clemson in the top five. Chadwick doted on Manning, but the ranking is about quarterback rooms and all he used to describe Trey Owens and KJ Lacey were “former four-star recruits.” Matthew Caldwell, who signed with Texas ahead of the publication of the article, was not mentioned.
RB – No. 3
Texas was behind Penn State and Notre Dame in the rankings. But the presence of a 1000-yard rusher in Quintrevion Wisner plus the hopes of a bounce back by CJ Baxter gave Chadwick reason for optimism for the Longhorn rushing attack. Jerrick Gibson, Christian Clark, and James Simon were mentioned, though Gibson’s specific 2024 exploits and Clark’s injury were not.

WR/TE – No. 8
PFF via Chadwick has high hopes for Manning’s targets. Ryan Wingo was the first player mentioned, who Chadwick said is “in line for a breakout sophomore campaign.” DeAndre Moore was also identified as a player to watch, with PFF explaining that Moore was in the 92nd percentile in separation rate. Along with that duo, Jack Endries, PFF’s second-ranked returning TE, and Emmett Mosely has PFF optimistic about Texas’ pass-catchers. The top five were Ohio State, Auburn, Clemson, Ole Miss, and Alabama.

PFF likes the Longhorn offense, but they may love what the defense offers. Either way, Steve Sarkisian has some of the best players as part of top position groups in the country at his disposal in 2025, at least in PFF’s eyes.
