We’ll have video later, and also everything Flood and Ewers said later as well.
Texas OC Kyle Flood speaking with reporters on Zoom: “We couldn’t be more excited to still be playing at this stage of the season. Should be an exciting game.”
Texas OC Kyle Flood on Trevor Goosby: “He’s had to be trained (at both tackle positions). It’s a testament to him to be able to do it and play at the level he did. We’re certainly excited about him and his future.”
Kyle Flood on Trevor Goosby, says early in the process Goosby was lean and there was a small question about if he could put on the bulk to play in the SEC. The Melissa coaching staff kept Flood up to date on his physical progress. “As he went through the spring before his senior year, you could really see him start to put on the weight.” — Weighed around 275 on his OV, 290 upon his arrival, and plays between 310-315.
Kyle Flood on cross-training: “Part of my obligation to Coach Sark and the offense is to make sure we can always get whatever the best five combination of players on the field is.”
Are you interested in being a head coach again? Texas OC Kyle Flood: “Right now I’m interested in winning the Peach Bowl.” — “We’ll entertain those things down the road if and when they come. It’s always flattering to be considered for those things. I don’t put my mind there because right now we have enough of a challenge going up against a good Arizona State team.”
Kyle Flood: “(Isaiah Bond) is a special kind of weapon… His elite speed, it’s just different. He’s got the ability to be explosive every time he touches the ball because he runs.”
Young players may not have gotten the same bowl reps they would have in previous years with the format of the Playoff, but there’s still value for Kyle Flood’s young O-linemen: “I think learning a gameplan is a skill. Just like any other skill in life, the more you do it the better you get at it.”
Texas QB Quinn Ewers on Isaiah Bond: “It’s always going to be able to cover a guy who’s that fast, has that much speed on the outside, can make news, and is a really dynamic receiver.”
Quinn Ewers on what he needs to do to be successful Wednesday: “I think I just need to be a good leader through the adversity because adversity is going to strike, and just take care of the football.”
Texas RB Jaydon Blue mentions a key to outside zone is having “better eyes”: “I think it showed last week when we had better eyes that we were able to run outside zone effectively.”

Jaydon Blue on Cam Skattebo: “He has everything you need in a running back. He has great balance. He’s able to make guys miss. He’s very strong.”
Jaydon Blue on how he responded to CJ Baxter and Christian Clark going down: “With them going down, we know that we have a lot of talent in that room and we knew guys were going to step up in a big way. It started with me being an older guy in that room. I tried my best to pick up the young guys and bring them along with me because I knew if we were going to be successful we were going to need the younger guys.”
Jaydon Blue says he “only” hit 21 mph on his 77-yard touchdown run versus Clemson.
Jaydon Blue on Tashard Choice: “He’s made a huge impact on me, not only in football but off the field. He’s a guy that I can go to whenever I’m going through something. We can talk about life. He’s someone I can lean on. With football, he’s helped me develop in a huge way.”
Texas OL Kelvin Banks on playing alongside someone different like Cole Hutson vs. Clemson: “In practice, we rotate all the time. We have that brotherhood that keeps us connected even in practice.”
Texas OL Kelvin Banks on Kyle Flood: “He’s a great teacher. He lets you know when you’re doing good and he lets you know when you’re doing bad. I like that about him. He’s not afraid to coach you.”
Texas OL Jake Majors: “I thought that overall the offensive line did a great job executing. It’s tough losing two of your starting O-linemen, but they way they were able to be moved around, shuffled, and execute at that level was awesome to see.” — Majors gave Hayden Conner an A+ for his work at center.
Texas TE Gunnar Helm on what Jake Majors means to him: “Absolutely everything. He’s part of a group that’s established the culture here.”
