Ewers is entering his second season on the Forty Acres. Last year, he started 10 games, completing 172-of-296 passes for 2177 yards and 15 touchdowns along with six interceptions.
Texas has had three players win the Davey O’Brien. Earl Campbell took home the honor in 1977 when it was issued to the top player in the southwest. Vince Young and Colt McCoy won the award in 2005 and 2009, respectively, when it became a quarterback-only award.
