Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, who led 11th-ranked Texas to a definitive 34-24 win on the road against No. 3 Alabama on Saturday, has been named the Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week in an announcement released Sunday.

Ewers is the ninth Longhorn since 2004, and first since Bijan Robinson in 2021, to earn weekly honors. All told, Texas has claimed Walter Camp Player of the Week accolades a dozen times.
Ewers passed for 349 yards and three touchdowns, two of them in Texas’ 21-point fourth quarter as the Longhorns snapped Alabama’s nation-leading 21-game home winning streak.
“I think Quinn had a really good understanding of what we were trying to do,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said afterward. “He got through his reads and never got stuck on his first read and was able to bounce back when we needed him. It can be a springboard for Quinn if he can recreate the habits he showed tonight.”

The sophomore signal caller amassed three TD passes for the second consecutive game and fourth time in his career; his 300-yard passing performance was the third in his 13-game tenure on the 40 Acres. Ewers has not been intercepted in his past 184 throws, the second-longest stretch in program history behind Sam Ehlinger’s 308.
“Ewers is just the player that we’ve seen the whole year,” Texas receiver Adonai Mitchell said. “We’ve always believed in him. He’s a leader. You know, even in the fourth quarter when we got up he was just telling everybody ‘look, the job’s not finished. We’re not done.’”
The win was the first non-conference road victory for the Longhorns over an Associated Press Top-3 opponent in program history and the first victory on the road against any Top-3 team since the No. 1-ranked Longhorns beat No. 2 Arkansas in 1969 in the “The Game of the Century.”
