Quinn Ewers, Xavier Worthy, Ja'Tavion Sanders appear on several way-too-early 2024 NFL mock drafts
The dust has hardly settled from the 2023 NFL draft but there are plenty of way-too-early mock drafts for next season being released by the various sports sites and publications. Texas has three players – quarterback Quinn Ewers, wide receiver Xavier Worthy and tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders – listed as first-round picks in at least one of the mock drafts.

CBS Sports predicts Worthy to go to the New York Giants with the 15th pick and as the third wide receiver off the board. Worthy’s predicted pick comes one selection ahead of Ewers, who, at No. 16 to Minnesota, is slated as the third quarterback picked.
CBS Sports also said that four players the Longhorns will play against in 2023 will be picked in the first round next year. That group includes linebacker Dallas Turner (No. 8), offensive lineman JC Latham (No. 10), defensive back Kool-Aid McKinstry (No. 12) of Alabama, and offensive lineman Cooper Beebe (No. 18) of Kansas State.
Bleacher Report projects Ewers as the fifth pick in the first round to Washington, but still as the third quarterback chosen behind Caleb Williams of USC and Drake Maye of North Carolina. Worthy is not listed in the first round by Bleacher Report.
Bleacher Report says five players on teams Texas will face next year will be taken in the opening round in 2024: McKinstry (No. 7), Latham (No. 11), Turner (No. 15), offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia of BYU (No. 19), and Beebe (No. 21).
USAToday’s Draft Wire predicts Worthy will go to Baltimore with the 22nd pick, where he would be the third wide receiver taken behind Marvin Harrison Jr. (No. 2) and Emeka Egbuka (No. 9), both of Ohio State. Sanders is slotted into the 25th pick for the New York Giants as the first tight end taken.
Draft Wire opines that three players on teams on the Longhorns’ schedule will be taken in the first round in 2024, including Turner (No. 8), Suamataia (No. 13), and McKinstry (No. 18).
The Sporting News projects Sanders as the No. 7 pick to New England, three picks after Georgia’s Brock Bowers as the second tight end taken. Worthy comes in at No. 18 to Baltimore – again behind Harrison Jr. (No. 2) and Egbuka (No. 16).

Four players on The Sporting News’ mock draft for 2024 will line up against Texas in the fall: Turner (No. 5), McKinstry (No. 8), Suamataia (No. 17), and Beebe (No. 21).
Athlon slots Sanders at No. 23 to Miami as the second tight end taken and Worthy at No. 26 to Dallas as the fourth wideout selected. The publication predicts opponents Turner (No. 7), Beebe (No. 12), McKinstry (No. 15), and Suamataia (No. 20) to also go on the first round.
Fox Sports projects Ewers to be picked at the 11th spot to New England and as the third quarterback taken behind Williams (No. 1) and Maye (No. 3).
The site says four Longhorns opponents – Turner at No. 7, Latham (No. 12), McKinstry (No. 14), and Suamataia (No. 24) – will also be chosen in the first round in 2024.
ESPN hasn’t released a mock draft quite yet for 2024, but they did release a list of prospects to know in January. Worthy was the only Longhorn listed. He joined Egbuka and Harrison Jr. in the wide receivers category.
