Texas is hosting a number of top prospects on Saturday during the Longhorns’ scrimmage, including John Turntine and Felix Ojo. Both prospects have been heavily recruited by the Longhorns, and both have responded well to burnt orange overtures. Ojo and Turntine are excited to see more from Texas this weekend, especially how the team looks during the scrimmage on Saturday.
Carthage running back KJ Edwards was the next topic. Edwards has long been a priority for Texas, and Chad Scott continued that when he arrived on the 40 Acres. The Longhorns need to add two running backs in the 2026 class and Edwards is one Texas has its eyes on. However, Texas A&M is also recruiting Edwards with fervor.
Next up is Samari Matthews, a defensive back out of North Carolina that had his interest boosted by Mark Orphey’s trip from Rutgers to Texas. Matthews is a priority for both Orphey and Duane Akina, and Texas is in a battle not only with Bill Belichick but also a number of programs around the country.

Linebacker recruiting is up next, including a few different EDGE prospects. One they have not wavered on is Kosi Okpala. Justin describes him as a “must-get in-state” at linebacker as Texas is looking all over the nation for help off the ball.
The two close out with a more detailed look at the upcoming recruiting weekend, including a view of the defensive tackle board that Kenny Baker is working with.
