Dre Quinn, an EDGE prospect from Norcross, Georgia, was deeply impressed by his visit to Texas. His reaction and enthusiasm reflect Texas’ ability to awe out-of-state talent, especially those unfamiliar with Austin’s urban setting. His father shared this enthusiasm, showing how impactful unofficial visits can be in building connections.

Texas is being particularly selective with EDGE recruits for 2026, owing to its already strong roster. Despite strong competition from Georgia, Texas is prioritizing Quinn, along with others like Xavier Griffin and JaReylan McCoy. Quinn’s official visit to Texas is set for June 13–15, while Georgia hosts him a week earlier.

Houston DB Chace Calicut is another defensive recruit Texas is heavily targeting. With an explosive and aggressive playing style, his recruitment is being contested by Michigan and Ole Miss. Despite this, Texas remains in a favorable position, bolstered by family roots in East Texas and strong campus visits.

Texas offered Cooper Witten, son of NFL legend Jason Witten and top-rated linebacker for 2027. Witten’s genetics, size (6’1″-6’2″, 210-215 lbs), and agility make him a standout. Although Texas is now in the mix, other programs like Tennessee, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Florida are also contenders. Cooper remains open in his recruitment.

From watching Cooper at an Under Armour event, scouts noted his instincts and fluid movement—traits suggesting early exposure to elite-level football. Though he plays in a lower-tier competition, his standout abilities and potential outweigh concerns over competition level.
