Reports: Texas to face Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2024 in shuffling of non-conference schedule
The Texas Longhorns and the Michigan Wolverines were slated to meet in Austin in 2024, nearly 20 years after their last meeting in Pasadena, Calif. at the Rose Bowl following the 2004 season. The original deal said Texas would return to Ann Arbor, Mich. in 2027 to complete the home-and-home.

With the news of UT’s move to the SEC prior to the 2024 season, multiple reports say Texas and Michigan will flip those two dates as part of a condition the early Big 12 exit. The Longhorns will instead head to the Big House in 2024 as part of their non-conference schedule.
The two schools originally agreed to the series in 2014.
“That game flip was a key driver for Fox agreeing to this deal to let Oklahoma and Texas out of the Big 12 a year early,” ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported.
Texas’ 2024 non-conference schedule originally consisted of three home games. The first was an August 31 meeting in Austin with the Colorado State Rams. Texas and CSU had met once before, a 1975 contest that saw Texas win 46-0.
The matchup with Michigan would have been just the second ever between the storied programs. The first meeting was a result of the Longhorns receiving an at-large bid to the Rose Bowl, then one of the four Bowl Championship Series bowls, to face Big 10 co-champion Wolverines. Thanks to Vince Young’s 372-yard, 5-touchdown performance and Dusty Mangum’s game-winning 37-yard field goal, the Longhorns won 38-37 in the matchup between two of college football’s most iconic teams.
