Terry provided an update on Disu, who has been hampered by a nagging foot injury that kept him out of several postseason games in 2023, and Shedrick, a Virginia transfer dealing with the effects of a shoulder injury.
“The thing with both Kadin and Disu, we’re playing the long game with those guys,” Terry said following the Orange-White scrimmage. “Those guys are a big part of our season. We have a chance to be really, really good with those guys out there. We’re going to be good already, but we’ll be a lot better if we have both of those guys in the lineup as well.
“Kadin is progressing really well right now. If everything continues on the trend he’s heading right now, he’s going to have a chance to play here really soon.
“We’re playing the long game with Disu because we want him for the whole season. If that goes into November and the first of December, no problem. We have other guys who’ll have opportunities to step up and get things done. We want him to be able to come back and be able to play at the level when he left.”

Disu started in 36 games last year, averaging 8.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 19.0 minutes per contest. He surged at the end of the season, scoring in double figures in nine of Texas’ final 12 games and earning Big 12 Tournament MVP honors. However, injury kept him out of most of Texas’ Sweet 16 matchup with Xavier and completely out of the Elite Eight bout with Miami.
Shedrick played in 30 games last year for Virginia, averaging 6.2 points and 3.8 rebounds on 64.7 percent shooting. He has appeared in 76 games and has averaged 6.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in his collegiate career.
Texas will look to UTEP transfer Ze’rik Onyema along with Brock Cunningham and Dillon Mitchell to help fill the void in the post until Shedrick and Disu return to action.
“They got a chance to play a lot of minutes,” Terry said. “All three of those guys all summer long got a chance to log some really good minutes. We’re going to need those guys throughout the course of the year.”
Texas is next on the court on October 30 for an exhibition versus St. Edward’s.
