Seven Longhorns named to the All-Big 12 first team, many others honored
Xavier Worthy, Ja’Tavion Sanders, Kelvin Banks, Bert Auburn, Byron Murphy, T’Vondre Sweat, and Jaylan Ford were first-team All-Big 12 selections, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Jonathon Brooks, Adonai Mitchell, and Jahdae Barron were second-team selections.
Several Longhorns took home individual accolades. Sweat was named the conference’s defensive player of the year. Murphy was named the league’s defensive lineman of the year. Mitchell was named the Big 12 offensive newcomer of the year. Anthony Hill Jr. was the defensive freshman of the year.
Sweat was one of three unanimous selections to the first-team.
A litany of Longhorns earned honorable mentions. Banks received votes from the league’s coaches for offensive lineman of the year. CJ Baxter earned an honorable mention for offensive freshman of the year. Brooks, whose season ended versus TCU due to a torn ACL, earned offensive player of the year honorable mention.
Trill Carter received a pick for defensive newcomer of the year, while Kitan Crawford had a vote or votes for special teams player of the year.
Other Longhorns to receive honorable mention picks included Terrance Brooks, Ethan Burke, Alfred Collins, Quinn Ewers, Gunnar Helm, Christian Jones, Jake Majors, Ryan Sanborn, Barryn Sorrell, Michael Taaffe, Jerrin Thompson, and Jordan Whittington.
The seven first-team selections and four individual accolades led the league and were the most for the Longhorns since 2005, per the school.
