Should T'Vondre Sweat have received more touches at Texas?
Nothing will make you question Steve Sarkisian’s reputation for having a brilliant offensive mind like watching T’Vondre Sweat with the ball in his hands.
Despite playing three years for Sarkisian at Texas, Sweat received just one touch, a two-yard touchdown reception in his final year.
After watching this highlight you be the judge. Is Sark overrated?
As an evaluator of defensive talent you love it when there’s evidence of a player on offense because it shows different traits. If Anthony Hill can be a credible running back in high school, certainly he has the traits – mirroring tempo and patience, vision and feet, power — to tackle a running back.
Sweat’s play is a great example. If you started the play only after he collected the ball with no reference point of him being on defense, you’d think he might be a punt returner.

Look at how he shakes 76 in the phone booth to the point 76 nearly falls over with a non-contact ankle injury. Look at the ball, at once tucked gently and ferociously in his outside arm. Next we see a stiff arm on 65 that would make Earl Campbell blush. But Sweat’s not done. After working his way to open space he uses his vision and patience to set up a good block from 49 before accelerating outside and down the sideline to maximize his run.
I urge the Titans to not make the same mistake that “genius” Steve Sarkisian did and to find Sweat touches on offense. With Travis Hunter winning the Heisman thanks to his two-way play, there’s a thirst for this type of dynamic ability.
Unconscionable
Also unconscionable, Sweat lasting until the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
