The high school football season got fully underway this week for the members of Texas’ 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes.

The list of teams that took the field Friday night included the Duncanville Panthers and the Cy-Fair Bobcats.

Texas quarterback commitments Trey Owens (177 yards) and 2025 K.J. Lacey (220+ yards) both threw touchdown passes in their openers.

Texas defensive commitments Colin Simmons, Alex January and D’Antre Robinson also put together impressive performances.

Duncanville High (1-0) beat South Oak Cliff (0-1) 34-13.

2025 5-star wide receiver, LSU verbal and Texas target Dakorien Moore had a monster offensive game, along with 2025 quarterback Keelon Russell.

Trey Owens, QB, Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair #AllGasNoBrakes

Cy-Fair High (0-1) lost a heartbreaker to Bridgeland High (1-0) 31-30. Texas commit Trey Owens passed for 177 yards and a TD (72 yards) in the loss.

K.J. Lacey, QB, Saraland (Ala.) High – 2025 #AllGasNoBrakes

Saraland High (1-0) beat Lipscomb Academy (0-2) 31-30 in overtime on a nationally televised game on ESPN.

Lacey and Alabama 5-star wide receiver commit Ryan Williams will link up for several long TD’s this season.

Nate Kibble, IOL, Humble (Texas) Atascocita #AllGasNoBrakes

Atacocita High (1-0) beat Dickinson High (0-1) 46-21. Kibble started at right tackle for Atascocita. He’s a fourth year varsity offensive lineman for a 6A program.
