Six Longhorns make ESPN's list of the top 100 players in college football in 2024

Six Texas Longhorns were named to ESPN’s list of the top 100 players in college football in the 2024 season on Wednesday, with some of the biggest parts of the team that made a run to the College Football Playoff semifinals for a second straight year making the cut.

Kelvin Banks was the top player in college football on the Texas Longhorns, according to ESPN. Banks moved up two spots from his preseason ranking of No. 9.

Thorpe Award Winner and consensus All-American Jahdae Barron was the No. 14 player.

Anthony Hill earned the No. 30 ranking after entering the preseason as the No. 64 best player according to ESPN.

Matthew Golden was deemed to be the No. 74 player in college football.

Quinn Ewers was No. 91.

Andrew Mukuba checked in at No. 93.

Colorado’s Travis Hunter took the top spot, just eeking past his Heisman Trophy runner up in Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty. Miami quarterback Cam Ward was No. 3, Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo was No. 4, and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was No. 5.

Players on the Longhorns’ 2024 regular season schedule in the ranking included No. 11 Mason Graham of Michigan, No. 15 Jalon Walker of Georgia, No. 29 Malaki Starks of Georgia, No. 40 Tate Ratledge of Georgia, No. 54 Danny Stutsman of Oklahoma, No. 56 Colston Loveland of Michigan, No. 69 Diego Pavia of Vanderbilt, No. 72 Nic Scourton of Texas A&M, No. 88 Kenneth Grant of Michigan, and No. 92 Jake Slaughter of Florida.

Opponents from Texas’ College Football Playoff run were also represented, namely Skattebo, Smith, No. 18 Caleb downs of Ohio State, No. 22 Jack Sawyer of Ohio State, No. 32 Donovan Jackson of Ohio State, No. 35 JT Tuimoloau of Ohio State, No. 46 TJ Parker of Clemson, No. 53 Cade Klubnik of Clemson, No. 57 Will Howard of Ohio State, No. 58 Sam Leavitt of Arizona State, No. 60 Lathan Ransom of Ohio State, No. 78 Emeka Egbuka of Ohio State, No. 82 Seth McLaughlin of Ohio State, No. 83 TreVeyon Henderson of Ohio State, No. 89 Jordyn Tyson of Arizona State, and No. 100 Barrett Carter of Clemson.
