“Kelvin, he really is in a situation that I guess is kind of similar to Quinn (Ewers),” Sarkisian said. “It’s going to be a process throughout the week to see what he can look like as we get closer to game day. But, it was a good start to the week for him.”
On Monday, Sarkisian had high praise for Goosby, who stepped into Banks’ place at left tackle.
“How we responded to adversity I thought was really critical Saturday night as well,” Sarkisian said. “When you look at Kelvin Banks getting injured seven plays into the game, you lose your starting All-American left tackle, and in comes Trevor Goosby, I didn’t think anybody blinked. He didn’t. The guys around him didn’t, and he played a heck of a game for us all the way.”
Banks left the game after seven offensive snaps. In his place stepped Goosby for the first road action of his career. He played 74 snaps and notched a 64.2 offensive grade from Pro Football Focus. He recorded a team-best pass blocking grade of 87.1. He was given a run blocking grade of 60.9.

“I really thought we controlled the line of scrimmage tonight,” Sarkisian said postgame. “I was really proud of Trevor Goosby when Kelvin went down. Stepped in for his first real action and I thought performed well in not an easy environment to do that.”
Banks, a likely All-American and first-round pick in addition to his award, has not missed a start during his three-year Texas career.
