Steve Sarkisian provides updates on Cole Hutson, Kristopher Ross
Two notable injuries coming out of the No. 3 Texas Longhorns’ 31-10 win over Wyoming were sustained by defensive lineman Kristopher Ross and offensive lineman Cole Hutson. On Monday during his regular media availability, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said Hutson and Ross will miss 3-4 weeks after sustaining injuries during Saturday’s contest.
“The good thing is they are not season-ending injuries,” said Sarkisian. “The tough part is they are significant enough for them to miss a couple of ballgames here.”

Ross, a second-year player out of Houston (Texas) North Shore, has played in all three games this season, recording one tackle. He made one appearance in 2022 versus Louisiana-Monroe.
According to Pro Football Focus, Ross has played in 50 total snaps this season. He appeared in 24 plays versus Rice, 17 versus Alabama, and nine versus Wyoming before leaving due to injury. His limited outing versus the Cowboys was his best of the year, as he earned a 82.5 defensive grade from PFF for his performance.

Hutson, a second-year player out of Frisco (Texas), started all 13 games at right guard during the 2022 campaign. He was held out of the contest versus Rice to open 2023, but played more snaps than fellow sophomore DJ Campbell versus Alabama.
Hutson played in seven snaps versus Wyoming per PFF before leaving due to injury. He played in 42 versus Alabama. Campbell has played in 141 snaps, including 61 versus Rice, 35 versus Alabama, and 45 versus Wyoming.
After the game on Saturday, Sarkisian said he was hopeful his players would not be out for long.
“Both guys, we’ll MRI in the morning,” Sarkisian said. “Kris has got an elbow injury. Cole has got a knee injury. I’m hopeful they’re not long, long-term injuries. We’ll know more, like I said, in the morning. I’m hopeful it’s three weeks for each guy. We’ll see how that goes.”
