Steve Sarkisian provides updates on Ja'Tavion Sanders, Ryan Watts
After both tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders and cornerback Ryan Watts left No. 3 Texas’ 40-14 win over Kansas last Saturday, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian described both of them on Monday as “day-to-day.” Sarkisian provided an update on the stats of each on Thursday.

“JT looks great. He’ll be good to go Saturday,” Sarkisian said. “I think Ryan is going to be a game-time decision.”
Sanders, a 6-foot-4 junior from Denton (Texas) Ryan, left during the first quarter of Texas’ win over the Jayhawks. He has 13 receptions for 278 yards and a touchdown this season. He recorded 100-yard games versus Alabama and Baylor, with five catches for 114 yards versus the Crimson Tide and five catches for 110 yards against the Bears. Those performances were the third- and fourth-most yards in a single game, respectively, by a tight end in a Longhorn uniform.
For his career, he has 67 catches for 891 yards and six touchdowns. He’s currently sixth among tight ends in catches in school history. His 891 yards are good for eighth among Longhorns. Last season, Sanders’ 54 catches were the most ever by a Longhorn tight end in a single season, while his 613 yards were the second most in a season by a Texas tight end.

Watts, a 6-foot-3, 206-pound senior from Little Elm (Texas) who transferred in from Ohio State, left in the later stages of the game versus Kansas. This season, he has 17 tackles with 1.0 for loss with one pass broken up. In his Texas career, he has 68 tackles with 5.0 TFL, one sack, and one interception.
Texas and Oklahoma will meet for the 119th time this Saturday at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. The game will kick off at 11 a.m. and will be televised by ABC.
