“Quinn and Ethan Burke will both be week to week at this point,” Sarkisian said. “You never really know exactly how bodies respond to injury. We’re just going to have to monitor these guys on a weekly basis. Obviously, we’re going to do everything in our power to get those guys back sooner rather than later.”

Ewers left the game in the late stages of the Longhorns’ 31-24 win over the Houston Cougars at TDECU Stadium. He was replaced by redshirt freshman Maalik Murphy, who finished 1-for-2 for 7 yards. For his career, Murphy is 4-for-8 for 50 yards. Murphy was inserted into the game instead of true freshman Arch Manning, who has yet to see a snap this season.

Murphy was ranked as the No. 205 overall prospect, the No. 12 quarterback, and the No. 15 prospect in California in the 2022 On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
