Sarkisian, along with Texas athletics director Chris Del Conte and basketball coach Rodney Terry, were given a few minutes Wednesday with the media in advance of speaking at an event hosted by the Dallas chapter of the Texas Exes.
Sarkisian was asked about Overshown and how he expects him to fit in with the Cowboys. The Texas coach has insight to the Dallas defense after working on the staff of current Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn when Quinn was head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
“Man, I’m so fired up for the Cowboys and fired up for D-Mo,” Sarkisian said. “I think he’s a perfect fit, you know. I worked with Dan Quinn for two years in Atlanta. You know that defense is predicated on playing fast and being physical.
“And at the end of the day, versatility really helps in that system, too, and I think D-Mo provides that,” Sarkisian continued. “Overshown played safety in high school, obviously played ‘backer and then we utilized him even coming off the edge some this year as a pass rusher.”

Sarkisian compared Overshown’s versatility to current Dallas All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons.
“We saw obviously with (Quinn) last year with Micah Parsons and moving him around, so I think D-Mo’s versatility can play into that,” Sarkisian said. “But he’s a runner, he’s a hitter, he’s got great speed, and I know he loves ball.
“Dan’s defense is about speed and being physical when you get to the football, and those two things describe DeMarvion. He can run, and when he gets there he arrives angry So I just I just think it’s an awesome fit.”
