Super Bowl thoughts, both UT basketball teams finding success
Half of America watched the Super Bowl last night.

Half of America watched the Chiefs score their final two touchdowns on the exact same play, one to the right side of the field and the next to the left.
The play included wide receiver motion toward the quarterback, only for the receiver to return back to the sideline when the ball was snapped.
Both plays resulted in walk-in touchdowns.
Two points here:
1. Good play-calling matters, especially in crucial moments. That final TD came on a third-and-goal. The result gave KC an eight-point lead instead of a four-point one.
2. Think about the Philly secondary. Even the pros fail to make adjustments correctly every single time. We’ve all seen DBs get confused or worked before, but to see it happen on football’s biggest stage is revealing.

My hats off to both Pat Mahomes and Jalen Hurts. Both played exceptionally well within the confines of their offense.

Hurts used his legs and an effective short passing game almost all game long.
In the second half, Mahomes was near perfect. He didn’t throw a single ill-advised pass or take a sack. And the only time he really scrambled was one of the game’s deciding plays, putting the Chiefs in field goal range on the game’s final drive.

Texas basketball travels to Lubbock tonight.
It’s going to be a “black out”, all the hometown fans are requested to wear black.
I can only imagine the vitriol that will be hurled toward Texas players tonight.
Not only is there the swiping of Chris Beard and his ultimate dismissal to consider, but there’s the recent SEC news that adds even more fuel to the fire.
After getting off to a slow start in conference, Tech has played better ball of late. The Red Raiders beat Kansas State in Lubbock on Saturday.
The game tips at 8pm and airs on ESPN.

Like their male counterparts, the women’s basketball team is atop the Big 12 conference.
The women are hitting their stride. They’re 20-6 overall and have won seven straight games.
