Witt, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound junior right-hander from Houston (Texas) Episcopal was ranked as the No. 24 draft prospect for the 2023 first-year player draft. Witt made two appearances in 2022 before he missed the remainder of the season due to Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow. He was 2-0 in his two starts, surrendering nine hits, two earned runs, and three walks over 11.0 innings while striking out 14.

In 2021, Witt earned freshman All-American and honorable mention All-Big 12 accolades after leading the Longhorns in appearances with 28. He was 5-0 with five saves, allowing 40 hits and 22 runs over 57.0 innings while walking 25 and striking out 73. Opponents hit .194 against him during the Longhorns’ trip to the College World Series and the national semifinals.

Sykora, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound outfielder from Round Rock (Texas), was ranked as the No. 27 draft prospect. He was a Perfect Game All-American, and ranked as the No. 2 prospect in Texas according to Five Tool.

“Texas has always been my dream school and they compete with the best and that’s where I want to be,” Sykora said about why he signed with Texas.

Gasparino, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound outfielder from Los Angeles (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake, was ranked as the No. 98 draft prospect. The son of former Oklahoma State Cowboy and Colorado Rockies organization member Billy Gasparino, he helped Harvard-Westlake to the 2021 CIF State Championship. He is a top-five caliber prospect in the Golden State.

“It was the right fit for me and had everything I was looking for in a college,” Gasparino said in November.

Texas signed 17 to its 2023 class in mid-November. The Longhorns’ 2023 campaign begins on February 17 in Arlington, Texas at Globe Life Field.
