Texas' 2025 recruiting class moves up to No. 5, how high can it go?

Texas started the day with the No. 6 ranked 2025 recruiting class but now finds itself at No. 5 with the addition of top 100 cornerback Graceson Littleton. That’s good news for the program, fans, and the author who has insisted Texas will end up inside the top-5 and likely top-3.

The Littleton recruitment mirrored his return ability on special teams — lightning in a bottle. Texas cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph visited Littleton’s school on November 1st, which was the same day Littleton de-committed from Clemson. The trip to Tampa (Fla.) Wiregrass Ranch instantly paid off for Texas, though the Longhorns still needed to hold off the Michigan Wolverines. After taking an official visit to both schools the Longhorns won out.

A large reason I’ve been bullish on the Texas class continuing to rise in the rankings is due to remaining class needs plus the number of ‘live’ recruitments the coaches are still chasing. Texas coaches are in on many more recruits than they have room for.

Needs still exist all over the defense. We could see another Edge in the class, a couple more defensive tackles, one or two more linebackers, plus another couple of defensive backs.

Then there are still highly rated players on offense with athlete Michael Terry, a near-five-star, and offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, a certified five-star.

Many of Texas’ current targets are committed elsewhere, as is the case with Sooners commit Fasusi. There are certainly no guarantees when going for a flip, but the sheer number of players Texas is targeting is sure to yield a couple more flips.

In October I mentioned Texas was likely to flip at least five players. That will probably lead to a battle of semantics with some, but since then the Horns have flipped wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon and now Littleton (if you’re inclined to count him as a flip).

One thing’s for sure. Texas is not done adding talented players who will improve the class ranking. I assure you they are still chasing players who aren’t truly on the radar, just like Littleton a couple weeks ago.
