The former Argyle 4A-D1 state champion had stops at Baylor, Texas State, and Houston Christian over the last few years, and now gets one more season of CFB in Austin. He will be a preferred walk-on.
“Playing at the University of Texas is a dream come true,” Rogers told Inside Texas. “I’m very excited to be able to learn from Coach (Steve) Sarkisian and Coach (AJ) Milwee and help the program.”
The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder was instrumental in Argyle’s state run in 2020. Then he signed with Baylor and the Bears won the Big 12 Championship that fall.
Then he transferred to Texas State to play for GJ Kinne, but TJ Finley got most of the snaps during his time in San Marcos.
It was at Houston Christian where he was able to see the field in 2024. He had a few injuries derail his first season with the Huskies, so he entered the portal once again. Then Texas and John Michael Jones called.

Rogers took an unofficial visit to Texas today, hung out with some of the staff and really bonded with QB coach AJ Milwee. Then he headed home to make his decision. By the time he pulled into the driveway, Rogers was ready to make the call.
He’ll join a room with Arch Manning, Trey Owens, and KJ Lacey in the Spring of 2025. Sources tell IT that the Longhorns will carry four quarterbacks this fall.
He made the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the Fall of 2021. He was the Dallas Morning News 4A Player of the Year after he passed for 3,420 passing yards and 48 touchdowns through the air, with six scores on the ground during his senior year. He was also an outstanding basketball player for Argyle.
