Texas was revealed as one of the 16 teams in tonight’s NCAA selection, joined by Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss in the SEC. Austin and UFCU Disch-Falk Field will be the host site for at least two games of Texas’ postseason, and potentially more.

Though the question for the Longhorns was less about if they would host and more about how high their seeding could be, Longhorn fans can now officially watch Texas baseball at home in June for the first time since 2022.

Additionally, if the Longhorns were to win their regional, a likely top-eight seed confirms their spot in hosting a Super Regional series as well. The Longhorns are in a great spot.

The discourse surrounding tomorrow’s full Field of 64 mostly revolves around Texas and Vanderbilt’s claims for the No. 1 overall seed. Earlier today, the Commodores took down the Ole Miss Rebels in the SEC Tournament, crowning themselves SEC Tournament champions. Now, both of these teams would have a share of the SEC title, given that Texas won the regular season, and each has a stacked résumé to present to the selection committee.

With both teams firmly in the regional hosting, 11 a.m. Central is the time to look out for a full view of the entire bracket, including Texas’ seed and opponents.

The last time Texas hosted a regional was in 2022, also the most recent time the Longhorns made the College World Series. The Austin Regional hosted Louisiana Tech, DBU, and Air Force, with Texas taking down the Bulldogs and Falcons in three relatively easy games to advance to the Super Regionals.

Texas then had to travel to Greenville, North Carolina, for an unforgettable series against East Carolina, with heroics from Dylan Campbell and Andre Duplantier II helping the Longhorns win the Super and make their way to the CWS. The World Series was a tough one for Texas, losing both of its games, but that team was the most successful Longhorn unit of the last four seasons.

Texas will learn who they will host in the regional tomorrow before embarking on a double-elimination tournament for that Super Regional spot. The Super will then be a three-game series against another regional winner, and Texas’ high seeding allows for an easier matchup than other SEC teams later in the seeding.

Five wins in Austin are all it will take for the Longhorns to make the World Series, but that’s a long way away. For now, Texas fans can enjoy the idea of playing postseason baseball this week at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
