Texas took a key series win over No. 2 LSU, rebounding from a midweek loss to UTSA. Despite losing on Tuesday and Friday, they dominated Saturday and Sunday games, showcasing resilience and strong coaching by Jim Schlossnagle.

Texas lost 8–7 in 12 innings to UTSA in a wild matchup. After leading 6–2 in the sixth inning, defensive lapses and untimely hits from UTSA flipped the script. Despite the loss, Kade Bing’s clutch pitching performance and Rylan Galvan’s near-game-winner stood out.

Texas fell 8–2 to LSU after starting strong but fading in later innings. Poor bullpen performance, defensive issues, and LSU’s aggressive base-running exposed flaws. Cody Howard’s solid relief offered a silver lining.

Texas bounced back with an offensive explosion in Game 2, pushing LSU to use eight pitchers. Key homers by Galvan and Jalin Flores electrified the Austin crowd. Middle-of-the-order hitters (Flores, Galvan, Aaron Rodriguez, Kimble Schuessler) combined for 10 hits and 9 RBIs.

Max Grubbs delivered effective long relief, and Dylan Volantis was dominant in the late innings across the weekend. Volantis, a freshman, showcased elite command and poise, drawing comparisons to Huston Street.

Ruger Riojas returned with a strong start, and Galvan continued his tear with a .500 OBP and stellar defense. Volantis again shut the door in a high-leverage save. Texas won 6–2, sealing the series.

Texas cleaned up base running and made in-game adjustments, notably forcing bullpen changes and wearing down opposing pitchers. Despite minor errors, the team executed well under pressure.

Texas now faces Missouri, a hungry SEC opponent. Ranked between No. 3–7 nationally, the Longhorns have momentum but face critical games ahead. Analysts see this team as on the brink of elite status.
