Games two and three of the series on April 2 and 3 will be aired on ESPN2 and ESPNU, respectively. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., while contests on Saturday and Sunday will begin at 12 p.m.
This won’t be Texas’ first time playing in a MLB ballpark in 2022, as the Longhorns recently participated in the Shriners Children’s College Classic at Minute Maid Park on March 4-6. Texas defeated the Tennessee Volunteers and LSU Tigers on Friday and Saturday before falling for the first time in the 2022 season to the UCLA Bruins. Oklahoma also participated in the multi-team event, falling to LSU, UCLA, and Tennessee.
This won’t be the Sooners’ first trip to the home of the Texas Rangers this year. OU participated in the season-opening State Farm College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field, topping the Auburn Tigers and Michigan Wolverines and falling to the Arizona Wildcats.

Texas began the season in Globe Life Field last year, dropping games to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and the Ole Miss Rebels. The series took place during the 2022 winter storm that affected the entire Lone Star State. The University of Texas closed during the freeze and closed all facilities including, athletic ones. The Longhorn baseball program was unable to practice in the days leading up to matchups with three top-ten, Southeastern Conference teams, and was outscored 20-4.
The Longhorns are currently ranked No. 2 in the country by D1Baseball.com. They just completed a 2-3 week, splitting a midweek series with the No. 22 Texas State Bobcats and losing two of three to the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia, S.C. The Longhorns remain in the Palmetto State this week with matchups versus College of Charleston and The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. Oklahoma has a double-midweek series with the Air Force Falcons before Skip Johnson’s club welcomes the New Orleans Privateers to Norman.
Texas possesses a 13-4 record. Oklahoma is currently 9-5 this season, with a 7-1 record at home and a 2-4 record at neutral sites.
