On3 Scouting report on Nic Codie
The upside of Nic Codie is so intriguing. Standing in the 6-8 range with a reported 7-2 wingspan, you like the way he moves. This gives him upside on the defensive end, with the fluidity to slide his feet and the length to get in the passing lanes and rotate on the block. Offensively, he is crafty in the paint. He has a quick, off-cadence release from 15-feet and in and he is confident with a jump hook or floater with his right hand. While the ball skills are still raw and he will need to continue working on the balance and footwork, he shows the ability to step out and knock down a three. That potential spacing the jump shot would provide is a nice added bonus to his game. There is a lot to like here, and Codie is younger for his grade. His dad, Nakia Codie, played defensive back in the NFL.
Texas commitment Cam Scott
The Longhorns are also expected to sign Cam Scott, the No. 34 ranked prospect in the country, in the early window.
Cam Scott, SG, Lexington (S.C.) High
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 34
Position Ranking: No. 7 shooting guard
State Ranking: No. 1 in the state of South Carolina
Committed to Texas: August 11, 2023
Scott committed to Texas over Auburn, South Carolina, Alabama and Ole Miss August 11. Scott first silently committed to Texas on an official visit in November of 2022. After the removal of Chris Beard, Scott slowed down his recruitment. Rodney Terry and staff continued to recruit Scott, and Scott’s liking for the University of Texas, the program, the city of Austin and the coaching staff always remained. Texas Director of Recruiting Ty Larson played a key role in the recruitment of Scott, along with Rodney Terry.
