The PJ Haggerty buzz linking him to Texas was mostly agent-fueled hype. Despite being a prolific scorer and a Texas native, his $4 million NIL demand made Texas uninterested. His skill set, while impressive (e.g., elite rim pressure, 4 assists/game), didn’t align with Texas’ budget or positional needs.

Haggerty’s name was floated with teams like Ole Miss, NC State, and Memphis, possibly as leverage. Old Miss seems the most realistic landing spot due to its strong NIL support and complementary roster with players like AJ Storr and Malik Dia.

Texas is actively pursuing French guard Evan Boisdur. At just 19, he’s splitting time between youth and professional French teams and may join Texas after his season concludes. He’s noted for aggressive screen use, off-the-dribble shooting, and potentially strong eligibility duration (possibly 4 years).

Texas appears to be structuring its rebuild over a two-year window. Their strategy focuses on acquiring multi-year players like Boisdour and other 2026 recruits, allowing for continuity and long-term development.

Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Kentucky were highlighted as emerging powerhouses. Oklahoma impressed with portal additions like Xzayvier Brown and Nijel Pack, while Ole Miss and Kentucky are blending strong recruiting with deep financial investment in rosters.

The hosts urged Texas fans to be patient, noting the instability in current portal policies and the importance of avoiding overreacting to online speculation and social media rumors.
