Texas' Blake Gideon is tenacious on the recruiting trail
With the addition of Warren Roberson, Texas inked three defensive backs in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

Two safeties – Roberson and Derek Williams – and one cornerback – Malik Muhammad.
You can’t really ask for better than that trio.
On Roberson, my hats off to Texas safety coach Blake Gideon. Gideon stayed after Roberson even when it looked like all was lost, and Roberson had committed to TCU.
Gideon came up just short a year ago on a couple of big-time players, including Kendrick Law out of Shreveport who signed with Alabama, while still signing B.J. Allen and Larry Turner-Gooden.
If Gideon continues to prove himself as a recruiter, a Texas staff that is already pretty stout in recruiting, will become even more formidable.
Think about it.
Tashard Choice, Jeff Banks, Kyle Flood, Bo Davis, Jeff Choate, AJ Milwee and Terry Joseph have all proven themselves capable of recruiting high level players to Texas.

There’s not really a weak link. Perhaps Pete Kwiatkowski could be questioned but he’s also the coordinator and is not on the road.

And we will see just how new hire, receivers coach Chris Jackson, fares.
But this is largely a staff that is built to succeed on the recruiting trail over the long-haul. There’s just not multiple coaches who are failing to contribute as we have seen in many previous Longhorn staffs.

The Horns basketball team needs to find a way to get Tyrese Hunter more involved from the game’s outset.
He’s too good of an on-ball defender not to find a place for himself on offense as well, or to turn in a -21 performance like he did on Monday.
If the Horns could get that going, they’d take yet another step forward and improve their chances come tourney time.
