Texas CB Jay'Vion Cole to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

It’s been a busy couple of days for the Texas Longhorns losing players to the NCAA Transfer Portal. Junior cornerback Jay’Vion Cole just stated he’ll enter the portal. He follows defensive tackle Tia Savea who entered earlier today.

Cole arrived to Texas last year from San Jose State as Texas looked to add experience and competition to its room. Despite showing good athleticism at Texas, he had trouble finding his way to the field. Two big roadblocks occurred. First, Gavin Holmes, himself a transfer from Wake Forest who was in his second year at Texas was a head of him. And, even more importantly, Jahdae Barron moved back to cornerback. The move paid off for Texas as Barron became the favorite for the Thorpe, an award given to the nation’s best defensive back.
Before San Jose State, Cole, an Oakland (Calif.) native, played at Cal Poly.
In addition to Cole and Savea, Texas has also lost defensive tackles Jaray Bledsoe and Aaron Bryant, linebacker Derion Gullette, and Edge Tausili Akana.
