Hicks is the No. 54 overall prospect, No. 7 safety, and the No. 7 prospect in Georgia according to the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranks him as the No. 65 overall prospect, the No. 6 safety, and the No. 7 player in Georgia.
How he fits at Texas
It’s become normal for Terry Joseph and Blake Gideon to build their defensive back classes by taking mostly cornerback-types at every position with one true alley safety to serve as the big, physical enforcer for the back end. Hicks is that guy in the 2026 group.
He has a big frame at 6-foot-1.5 and 180 pounds as a junior, he’ll play at 6-foot-2 and 205 or heavier in a few years’ time. Hicks does his best work closing space and making tackles or plays on the ball from a deeper perch from which he can see things develop. He’d probably end up as a boundary safety in the Longhorn defense where he can stay relatively close to the box.

Charlie Williams on Hicks
Standing at 6-foot-1.5 and 180 pounds, Hicks is a physical, downhill safety who thrives in the box. He showcases advanced tackling skills for his age. He has a natural talent for timing his blitzes and is effective at disrupting passes by playing through the receiver’s hands. His relentless motor drives him to chase down plays from behind or across the field.
Hicks’ football IQ is another key asset, particularly in zone coverage. He reads the quarterback’s eyes and understands route concepts, giving him the confidence to jump routes with precision.
At Texas, Hicks is projected to take on a strong safety role, similar to Derek Williams. His versatility allows him to cover tight ends and running backs while being tough enough to act as a fourth linebacker, offering critical support in run defense. Additionally, Hicks is expected to make an immediate impact on special teams and grow into a significant contributor on defense over time.
