Collins, a former four-star recruit in the class of 2020, played over 1,800 snaps in his college career for the Longhorns. He is one of four Longhorns from the 2020 class expected to hear their name called this weekend, joining Jahdae Barron, Jake Majors and DT Vernon Broughton.
Collins flashed early in his freshman season, even recording an interception in an Alamo Bowl win versus Colorado, but wasn’t able to break through as a full-time starter in the three years that followed. Collins was buried in the depth chart behind future NFLers like Moro Ojomo, Keondre Coburn, T’Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy, with the second two being drafted in the first two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Collins wrapped up his fourth season in college football in 2023 having amassed 119 tackles, 12 for loss, and a big decision about his future in his hands. Staying true to the Texas brand, Collins declared to stay for a final season in Austin to solidify a better draft slot and bring Texas to the national championship.

While he wasn’t successful with the latter of the two goals, Collins broke out in his final season at Texas, earning first-team All-SEC honors while recording 55 tackles, six for loss, and being known as one of the best run stoppers in the country. He was a second-team All-American, and made four solo-stops in the Peach Bowl against Arizona State.
