In contests versus Colorado State, UTSA, ULM, and Florida, Savea tallied three total tackles with 1.0 for loss. By appearing in only four games, Savea maintained his redshirt and will look for a fourth school for his final year of eligibility.

Savea started his career at UCLA before transferring to Arizona ahead of the 2022 season. In his career, Savea has 46 career tackles. He joins Aaron Bryant, Tausili Akana, Johntay Cook, Jaray Bledsoe, and Derion Gullette as Longhorns who have entered the portal.

A member of the class of 2021, Savea was ranked as the No. 359 overall prospect, the No. 32 defensive lineman, and the No. 3 player in Nevada in the 2021 On3 Industry Ranking. In the transfer portal following the 2023 season, he was ranked as the No. 602 player in the portal and the No. 60 defensive tackle.
