No. 37 – WR Bryce Chambers, SO

Chambers, from Austin (Texas) Westlake, has not seen game action yet.

No. 37 – LB Morice Blackwell, SR

Blackwell, from Arlington (Texas) Martin, has been in the rotation for the Longhorns since his freshman year in 2021 and is in his final year of eligibility. The 6-foot-1, 220 pound linebacker has been a good tackler with roles on special teams, as a 3rd down linebacker, briefly as a safety, and finally as a rotational player at both Sam and Will linebacker.

Blackwell started three games at Sam linebacker in 2022 and finished the year with 11 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass break-up. In 2023 he started one game and made 21 tackles, three tackles for loss, a pass break-up, and a fumble recovery.

In 2024 Blackwell could be the first off the bench at either Sam linebacker (behind Trey Moore) or Will linebacker (behind David Gbenda) in the event of an injury. This is his final year of eligibility as he started his Texas career in 2021 and has played in 10 or more games every year since.

Merritt, from Los Gatos (Calif.), has not played in his Texas career. He is part of Texas’ scout team efforts.
