DeSoto (Texas) High (13-2) – WR Johntay Cook II & RB Tre Wisner
12/16 vs Austin Vandegrift (14-1)
DeSoto is one of two teams in the state championships with multiple Texas commitments on the roster with Cook and Wisner. Cook is looking to put a bow on an outstanding career, where in three seasons he notched 2,773 yards receiving and 48 touchdowns on 153 catches, good for 18.1 yards per catch. Wisner has been dependable since moving from Waco Connally. He’s tallied 766 rushing yards and eight total touchdowns while averaging 6.4 yards per carry. The Eagles’ defeat of Denton Guyer in the semifinals was certainly unexpected.
DeSoto is back at state after winning the title in 2016 behind the arm and legs of four-star Shawn Robinson.
Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff (12-3) – CB Malik Muhammad & EDGE Billy Walton
12/16 vs Port Neches-Groves (13-2)
The Texas defensive commit duo of Muhammad and Walton have been rock solid for the Golden Bears, who opened the 2022 campaign with three straight losses to Duncanville, Lancaster, and DeSoto. Two of those teams are playing in AT&T Stadium this weekend.
Walton recorded 12 sacks in 2021, then added 65 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks during his senior year. He turned in a performance with 12 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, and one interception in a win over Dallas Kimball in October.

Muhammad’s numbers are phenomenal with 149 tackles (101 solo), seven pass break ups, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one quarterback pressure in his time at South Oak Cliff. He’s also added 188 all-purpose yards and two touchdown catches on offense for the Golden Bears.
Aledo (Texas) High (13-2) – 2024 ATH Jaden Allen
12/17 vs College Station (13-2)
When Aledo beat No. 1 Longview on Saturday, it sent shockwaves throughout the state. The Bearcats opened the 2022 season with two straight losses to Dallas Parish Episcopal and Denton Guyer, but have battled to make it to the state finals.
Tim Buchanan and his Aledo bunch rallied for 13 consecutive wins, behind prospects like Jaden Allen, 2024 LB Dahvon Keys, 2023 DL Ansel Din-Mbuh, and 2024 RB Keiran Patrick-Daniels.
“We’re super excited,” said Allen. “People threw us away after we started 0-2 but we believed in each other, locked in and played Aledo football. Our mind set is the same; 1-0 every week. At this point there is no bad teams so our preparation is important.”
All games will be televised on Bally Sports Southwest with more information at uiltexas.org.
