Texas Longhorns commits schedules: Week 2

The second week of the high school season for the Texas Longhorns’ commits in the 2024 and 2025 classes gets begins Thursday.

Week two in the state of Texas includes all nine in-state commitments on fields across the state. All told, 14 of the 16 Texas commitments in the 2024 class will be playing this weekend. Class of 2025 quarterback commitment K.J. Lacey will also be back on the field this week in a big game in the Mobile area.

Inside Texas will take a weekly look at the game schedule for the Texas commitments. Here is week one of the high school season.

Week 1 Player of the Week

Parker Livingstone, WR, Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy #AllGasNoBrakes

Lovejoy High (1-0) makes the short trip to take on Argyle High (0-1) Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m. Livingston hauled in 12 passes for 253 yards and three TD’s in the season opening 50-37 win over College Station High. He added a 53-yard touchdown pass.

Daniel Cruz, IOL, North Richland Hills (Texas) Richland #AllGasNoBrakes

Richland High (1-0) takes on Haltom (0-1) on Thursday, August 31. The Royals beat Mansfield Legacy 23-21 last week. Daniel Cruz started at center, and also logged time at defensive tackle causing a fumble in the win.

Aeryn Hampton, WR/ATH, Daingerfield (Texas) High #AllGasNoBrakes

Dangerfield High (1-0) hits the road to take on Tatum High (0-1) on Thursday, August 31 at 7 p.m. The Tigers beat Gladewater (53-32) in the season opener. Hampton rushed for 88 yards and two TD’s on six carries, and caught three passes for 58 yds with a TD in the season opening win.

D’antre Robinson, DL, Orlando (Fla.) Jones #AllGasNoBrakes

Jones High (0-1) boards a flight to Baltimore this week to take on Our Lady of Good Counsel (0-1) on Friday, August 25 at 7 p.m. Eastern. Jones lost at Sunshine State power Cocoa High 22-20 last week.

Melvin Hills, DL, Lafayette (La.) Lafayette Christian Academy #AllGasNoBrakes

Lafayette Christian Academy begins the regular season September 1 with a short trip southwest to Acadiana High.The game is a matchup between two of the top defensive line prospects in the Pelican State – Hills and Dominick McKinley.

K.J. Lacey, QB, Saraland (Ala.) High – 2025 #AllGasNoBrakes

Saraland High (1-0) heat Lipscomb Academy (0-2) in a 31-30 overtime thriller on ESPN last week. The Texas commitment completed 20 of 33 passes for 212 yards with 1 TD (1 INT), and added a rushing score. This week, the Spartans make the short trip to take on Murphy High (0-1) on Friday, September 1. Murphy High lost their season opener 19-0 to Daphne High.

Nate Kibble, IOL, Humble (Texas) Atascocita #AllGasNoBrakes

Atascocita High (1-0) beat Dickinson High (0-1) 46-21 to begin the season last Friday. The Eagles play host to power Katy High (1-0) on Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m. The Tigers beat Clear Springs 34-22 last week.

Trey Owens, QB, Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair #AllGasNoBrakes

Cy-Fair High (0-1) takes on Cypress Park (0-1) Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m. Cy-Fair dropped a heartbreaker 31-30 to Bridgeland High to begin the regular season last week. Owens and Texas 2025 target Landon Rink headline the Bobcats squad.

Freddie Dubose Jr., WR, Schertz (Texas) Smithson Valley #AllGasNoBrakes

Smithson Valley (0-1) will travel to Killeen to take on Harker Heights High (1-0) Friday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m. The Rangers dropped the season opener last week 17-16 to San Antonio Reagan High.

Jordan Washington, TE, Houston (Texas) Langham Creek #AllGasNoBrakes

Langham Creek High (0-1) will take on Jersey Village High (1-0) on Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m. The Lobos dropped their season opener 53-6 at Tomball Memorial High last week. Washington was named 16-6A first-team all-district as a junior.

Michael Kern, P, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas #AllGasNoBrakes

St. Thomas Aquinas (0-1) will play host to Fort Myers High on Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m. Eastern. The Raiders dropped their season opener last week 20-7 to nationally ranked St. John Bosco out of California. Michael Kern punted five times for a 38.8 yard average, with three punts downed inside the 20. He also kicked off twice with both being touchbacks.

Christian Clark, RB, Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe #AllGasNoBrakes

Mountain Pointe (1-0) hits the road on Friday, September 1 for a 7 p.m. Pacific time contest at Palm Desert High (0-2) in California. Clark rushed for a touchdown in limited action due to helmet to the knee the season opening win last week. Clark’s injury is not thought to be serious, but it’s unknown if he will play this week.

Santana Wilson, CB/N, Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain #AllGasNoBrakes

Desert Mountain High (1-0) travels to take on Sunrise Mountain High (0-1) Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m. Pacific time. Wilson made big plays on both sides of the ball last week in the 47-0 season opening win over Verrado High (0-1).

Colin Simmons and Alex January, Duncanville (Texas) #AllGasNoBrakes

Duncanville High (1-0) is back on the field Saturday, September 2 hosting Rockledge High (0-1) out of the Space coast of Florida. The Panthers beat South Oak Cliff 34-13 last week.

Jerrick Gibson and Jordon Johnson-Rubell, IMG Academy #AllGasNoBrakes

IMG Academy (2-0) is off this week after beating St. Joes (Philadelphia) 17-14 Saturday. Jerrick Gibson has rushed for 240 yards and two TD’s on 36 carries in the two nationally ranked contests. Jordan Johnson-Rubell has eight tackles through two games.
