Two of Texas’ key players popped up on the SEC Student-Athlete Availability Report, better known as an injury report, for No. 5 Texas’ Friday night matchup versus No. 3 Georgia in Austin.

It’s no surprise that Max Belyeu was reported as out for this weekend. The former Big 12 Player of the Year sustained a serious wrist injury that will likely have him out for the rest of the regular season. Texas will hope for good news in the future, but for now, one of its best players will remain in the dugout throughout the next few weeks.

Freshman Adrian Rodriguez is also shown on the report, being listed as questionable for this weekend’s series. The third baseman was hit by a pitch against Missouri last weekend, and head coach Jim Schlossnagle told the media today that he likely will not be able to bat. You may see him in the field or using his legs, but don’t expect much from the young phenom.

On the positive side of things, Rylan Galvan is fully cleared for this weekend’s games. Galvan injured his hand on a foul tip last Saturday and DHed on Tuesday, but it seems as if he is fully ready to go against Georgia. That may mean he primarily DHs, but having that bat in the lineup is enough to get excited about.

For Georgia, the Bulldogs will be without talented sophomore outfielder Tre Phelps, who suffered a hamstring injury in practice last week. The visitors will need to rely on depth of their own to make up for a lost bat in the order. RHP Davis Chastain, one of their relief options, is listed as probable for the weekend.

Belyeu and Rodriguez’s presence on the pre-Friday injury report likely says plenty about their status heading into the weekend. The SEC will release another injury report 90 minutes prior to first pitch. That info can be found here.

Schlossnagle announced on Thursday that Jared Spencer will start on Friday and Luke Harrison will get the nod Saturday, with Sunday’s starter remaining TBA. Georgia will march out left-hander Charlie Goldstein, right-hander Brian Curley, and right-hander Leighton Finley.

The Longhorns lost 5-3 at home to Texas State in their last outing.

All three games versus the Bulldogs will be aired on SEC Network+. Friday’s first pitch is at 6:30 p.m., Saturday’s game begins at 2 p.m., and the series finale on Sunday starts at 1 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
