Texas Longhorns ranked No. 16 in latest AP Poll

The Texas Longhorns are ranked No. 16 in the latest release of the AP Top 25 Poll.

Texas (5-1) moved down one spot since last Monday’s AP Poll after the 81-71 loss to No. 4 UConn.

The Longhorns bounced back with a Sunday afternoon with an 86-63 win over Wyoming. The Longhorns will return to the court Thursday night playing host to Texas State (3-4).

Six Big 12 teams were included in the top 25. Kansas checks in at No. 5, and is followed by Houston at No. 6, Baylor at No. 9, Texas at No. 16, BYU at No. 19 and Oklahoma at No. 25.

Several teams on Texas’ schedule were also included in the most recent poll. Texas plays at No. 5 Kansas in Big 12 play. The Longhorns will take on No. 6 Houston, No. 9 Baylor and No. 25 Oklahoma twice in conference play. Texas will also play at No. 19 BYU. And the Longhorns will take on No. 3 Marquette coached by Shaka Smart December 6 in Milwaukee.

Other teams from the state of Texas in the poll include No. 14 Texas A&M.

The Longhorns finished No. 5 in the final AP Poll for the 2022-23 season.
