The trio makes up a top 10 signing class for the Longhorns under Chris Beard. The 2022 class may not be done either with an official visitor on campus Monday.

5-star forward Dillon Mitchell

Dillon Mitchell finished No. 3 overall in the On3 Top 150. The 6-foot-7.5 jumping jack is arguably the best run and jump athlete in the 2022 cycle. Mitchell is more than a supreme athlete, however. He improved in a big way as senior playing for Montverde Academy. His ability to guard multiple positions, block and change shots and change ends of the floor with fluidity and speed makes him one of the best. Mitchell improved the most on offense this season.

Mitchell’s On3 scouting summary:

An explosive athlete with great length. Has high-level defensive instincts, can guard on or off the ball, and switch up and down a lineup. He can handle the ball and make plays, as an initiator, out of the pick and roll. The jump shot is inconsistent at best. Gets a side rotation on it. Needs to gain confidence in it to make it a weapon. Great in transition. Good off-ball cutter. Scores off movement. Can play out of the dunker spots. Very efficient on offense. Knows who he is.

4-star combo guard Arterio Morris

Arterio Morris finished No. 25 overall in the On3 Top 150. The 6-foot-3 Morris is an electric open court player with NBA draft pick ability. Beard has always had a guard he would let “wiggle within the offense,” as a prominent coach told Inside Texas recently. Morris is accustomed to playing with a lot of freedom. He’s a quick, fast and high-flying finisher in transition, with the ability to get his own shot and score in bunches. He’s also a sneaky offensive rebounder. There will be two huge keys for Morris to be the player he can potentially be as a freshman. Playing hard on both ends for longer stretches will be required. Learning to play with flow and pace in the half-court while coveting each possession will also be required. Opponents will play under the screen at the high-major level until Morris proves he can consistently shoot the three.

Morris’ On3 scouting summary:

A strong-bodied point guard. Broad shoulders, good length, projectable frame. Has a crafty handle with great balance and good footwork. Gets downhill quickly does not dance with the ball. Can make a read off the bounce. Is an inconsistent jump shooter on the ball. Settles too much for off-balance jumpers. Can make threes off the catch. Creative finisher at the rim. Needs to find consistency in his production. Like to see developing the mid-range pull-up. How well does he see the floor, read the game? A north, south guard.

4-star point guard Rowan Brumbaugh

Point guard Rowan Brumbaugh finished ranked No. 74 in the top 150. The near 6-foot-4 guard has a pure point guard game, feel and mindset. He has the ball on a string, and is a creator. He possesses sneaky quickness and good size. Brumbaugh creates opportunities for his teammates through feel and instinct. The ability to shoot the three, especially off the dribble, is a must to become a difference maker player at the high-major level. Opponents will be able to play under the screen until Brumbaugh proves he can be a consistent perimeter threat. Brumbaugh is a willing and capable defender with very good understanding.

The Texas Longhorns 2022 class is not likely finished. On3 3-star forward Alex Anamekwe is scheduled to officially visit the Longhorns Monday. The former SMU signee is expected to decide between Texas and Tulsa barring a major change.
