Texas looking for seven straight wins, three straight regular season sweeps of OU
The Texas Longhorns (19-11, 8-9 Big 12) have one final regular season game before embarking on the Big 12 Tournament, and, most likely, the NCAA Tournament. That final regular season game comes Saturday against the rival Oklahoma Sooners.

The Longhorns have enjoyed success against their paramount rival in the last few years. Texas currently holds a six-game winning streak over the Sooners and can make it three straight regular season sweeps against Porter Moser‘s program with a win this weekend in the Moody Center.
“Is that right?” Brock Cunningham asked with a smile on Thursday.
Cunningham has played in seven games against Oklahoma during his lengthy Texas career and won all seven.
Conversely, Max Abmas is slated to play in his second matchup against Oklahoma in a Longhorn uniform. Even though this is likely his final time in the basketball edition of the Red River Shootout, he knows what it means to both schools.
“It’s a big rivalry, I know that,” Abmas said Thursday. “Texas-OU, the football speaks for itself. I got the chance to see that. I got the chance to play in it already. It’s a great rivalry. Great for both sides. Very exciting.”
But the prospect of seven straight and three straight sweeps?
“Nobody’s even thought about that at all,” Abmas said. “When it comes to rivalry games, you really can throw all the records and stuff out of the way. You’re going to get the best out of both teams.”
Dylan Disu has enjoyed his time playing the Sooners. He’s posted double-digit scoring efforts in his last three games against Oklahoma, including a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double in January during a 75-60 win in Norman. Since he joined the roster ahead of the 2021-22 season, Disu is undefeated against OU
“I think they’ve all been great games,” Disu, who is a game-time decision for Saturday’s contest, said Thursday. “We’ve done the little things to be able to come out on top.”
Texas has swept Oklahoma five times since the end of the 2009-10 season, split the regular season series six times, and been swept by the Sooners only twice.
Ahead of the Longhorns’ efforts to make it six sweeps, including three straight, Inside Texas offers a look back at other 2-0 (or even 3-0) seasons against Oklahoma since the end of the 2009-10 season.

Trae Young filled the stat sheet in his two games versus Texas, but the Norman native did not defeat the Longhorns in his one-year career.
Texas topped the Sooners in the Erwin Center thanks to a 22-point showing from Matt Coleman plus 19 points from Kerwin Roach. Mo Bamba poured in 13, including some emphatic dunks toward the end of the game in an emotional day with College GameDay on set and Andrew Jones in the middle of his cancer battle.
Two weeks later in Norman, Dylan Osetkowski scored 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting to lead the Longhorns to critical wins over the Sooners and their future lottery pick.

22 points from Jones plus 10 points apiece from Courtney Ramey, Timmy Allen, and Marcus Carr was more than enough for the Longhorns considering their defensive effort. Texas posted 11 steals and three blocks and turned the Sooners over 16 times in the home dustup.
In Norman, Jones broke the hearts of Sooner fans one more time. He and Allen both poured in 20 points, with Carr and Christian Bishop posting 16 points. OU had a chance to win at the end but Elijah Harkless missed his three-pointer and the Longhorns escaped the Lloyd Noble Center with another Red River win.

On New Years Eve in Norman, Texas earned another thrilling win over the Sooners. Double-digit scoring from Carr, Allen, Disu, and Sir’Jabari Rice overcame a 22-point night from Sooner guard Grant Sherfield. Rice made seven free throws in the final 2:30 to leave Oklahoma with a one-point win.
Another thriller ensued in Austin. Sherfield once again posted a great evening, but 24 points from Rice and 17 points from Carr helped the Longhorns overcome an overtime dry spell where they scored one point in the final 2:26.
