Texas, Michigan officially swap locations for home-and-home series
Texas and Michigan have mutually agreed on a location switch for their home-and-home series originally announced in 2014, the schools said Tuesday. Texas will now travel to Ann Arbor to face the Wolverines in Michigan Stadium on Sept. 7, 2024, while Michigan will play the Longhorns in Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium on Sept. 11, 2027.

Texas was originally set to host Michigan in 2024, the first year the Longhorns will be members of the SEC, before traveling to the Big House in 2027.
The two legendary programs who both sit within the top five all-time in wins have only met once. Texas defeated Michigan on January 1, 2005 in the Rose Bowl. Vince Young tallied 372 total yards and five touchdowns, while Dusty Mangum hit a 37-yard field goal as the clock hit triple zeroes to give the Longhorns a 38-37 win. Texas would return to Pasadena, Calif. one year later to win the national championship over USC in the Rose Bowl.
The meeting was a result of the Longhorns receiving an at-large bid to the Rose Bowl, then one of the four Bowl Championship Series bowls, to face Big 10 co-champion Wolverines.
Texas’ 2024 non-conference schedule originally consisted of three home games. The first was an August 31 meeting in Austin with the Colorado State Rams. Texas and CSU had met once before, a 1975 contest that saw Texas win 46-0.
