Texas was one of four Big 12 teams to be ranked in the top 25. Oklahoma State was ranked No. 18, dropping two spots from where they were the week prior. Texas Tech moved up one spot to the No. 21 position. TCU entered the top 25 after playing last week unranked, earning the No. 25 ranking.

West Virginia, previously No. 24, dropped out of the poll. Teams on Texas’ schedule to be ranked included No. 1 LSU, No. 4 Vanderbilt, and No. 5 Arkansas.

Texas took the series from K-State over the weekend with its 8-2 rubber game win over the Wildcats on Sunday. Garret Guillemette and Porter Brown homered while Charlie Hurley pitched 5.0 innings of two-run ball to earn the win. Head coach David Pierce and center fielder Eric Kennedy were ejected during the contest. Pierce will be able to coach the Longhorns’ Monday game versus Texas State in San Marcos, but Kennedy will have to serve a one-game suspension. Texas plays Texas State again on Tuesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field before a weekend series versus Baylor in Waco.

The Longhorns are currently in first place in the Big 12 with a 6-3 record. TCU and Oklahoma State have played 12 conference games and are both 7-5, but trail Texas in winning percentage. UT has a .667 mark while the Horned Frogs and the Cowboys sit at .583.
