Texas moves up in the D1Baseball top 25

Thanks to a 3-0 weekend in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas College Baseball Classic as part of a 4-0 week, the Texas Longhorns moved up three spots to No. 12 in the D1Baseball top 25.

The Longhorns took care of Incarnate Word on Tuesday with a 6-0 win before Jim Schlossnagle’s club packed their bats for the desert. Texas held on for a 10-9 win over Washington on Friday, wrecked former Big 12 rival Texas Tech with a 10-5 win on Saturday, and finished the weekend strong with a 15-6 win over Illinois on Sunday.

Texas hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday before hosting Santa Clara for a weekend series.

There was a new No. 1 at the top of the poll as LSU jumped from No. 2 to the top spot. Previous No. 1 Texas A&M, who sustained a four-game losing streak to teams like Cal Poly, Texas State, Arizona, and Oklahoma State, tumbled from No. 1 to No. 14.

Other SEC teams in the poll included No. 1 LSU, No. 2 Tennessee, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 5 Georgia, No. 7 Florida, No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 17 Ole Miss, No. 18 Vanderbilt, No. 22 Auburn, and No. 23 Alabama. Teams on Texas’ schedule in the poll included No. 25 Oklahoma State.

Dallas Baptist joined Lone Star State programs like Texas and Texas A&M in the top 25. They were ranked No. 21.
